WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Information and Privacy Commissioner, Diane McLeod-McKay, has issued an urgent advisory to inform Yukoners about a recent cyber security incident involving a videoconferencing application that has come into wide use during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A number of news outlets are reporting that the Zoom application suffered what is called a “credential stuffing” attack, which may have put at risk the personal information of its users and potentially that of others, including usernames and passwords.
The advisory has been posted on the IPC website here to inform Yukoners about the potential risks and provide advice about what to do to reduce these risks and protect their personal information.
