Scope

Our website supports the mandates of the Yukon Ombudsman (Ombudsman), the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC), and the Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner (PIDC). The website is an informational resource for individuals and public institutions in matters relating to administrative fairness (Ombudsman), access and privacy of personal information and personal health information (IPC) and investigating wrongdoing disclosures or complaints of reprisal (PIDC). 

This policy refers to how we may collect, use and disclose information we receive from your use of our website and provides you the opportunity to opt-out of some collection that occurs from the use of our website. 

Collection

Our office collects information of your use of our website for the purpose of fulling our mandates under the Ombudsman Act, Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Health Information Protection and Management Act, and the Public Interest Disclosure and Wrongdoing Act and may include some personal information. 

The web server collects a small amount of information from visitors to operate the website. Search information is collected to assist with future inquiries. In the event of an unauthorized attempt to access or alter our site, we can identifythe user through our collection of IP addresses. 

When you send us electronic mail using the email addresses listed on our website, we collect your email address and your message so that we may reply to you. We recommend that sensitive personal information not be sent unencrypted over the internet or by e-mail. Contact our office for instructions on how to submit information electronically in a safe and secure manner using our Secure File Transfer service.

Our website uses Matomo, a third-party analytic service to help improve our service delivery. The information we collect on this website is owned by us, stored on a secure web server will not be shared.
