The Yukon Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC), Jason Pedlar, would like to clarify that the Yukon's IPC office did not provide an opinion to the City of Whitehorse or its representatives that audio recording in taxis can be implemented by the City, as indicated in a City administration report shared by the City with the public, and as subsequently reported on in the media at https://www.whitehorsestar.com/News/audio-recordings-in-taxis-may-become-compulsory.

It is possible that the administration report meant to reference the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

The IPC is working with the City of Whitehorse to have an amendment made to the administration’s report and a correction sent to media.
