This guidance document is for public bodies and custodians to support them in their obligation to perform logging and auditing on their electronic systems that contain personal information or personal health information.

Time extension guidance for public bodies

The guidance document is intended to help public bodies understand when to consider a time extension request under section 63 of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act and how to complete the Request for Time Extension Form for submission to the office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner. 

Request for advice form (HIPMA)

The Information and Privacy Commissioner has authority under HIPMA to provide advice to custodians about their responsibilities under HIPMA and to promote best practices.

HIPMA audit tool for small custodians

This tool was developed by the Yukon Information and Privacy Commissioner to assist custodians in meeting the audit requirements of the HIPMA and the Health Information General Regulation. Please view the HIPMA and the Regulation for all the requirements that a custodian must follow in HIPMA. It is up to each custodian to understand their obligations in HIPMA and comply with them.

Time extension request form (ATIPPA)

The time extension request form can be used under section 63 of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act for submission to the office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner. Please read the guidance document on how to complete the Request for Time Extension Form.

HIPMA guide for small custodians

The "HIPMA Guide for Small Custodians" is intended to help small custodians, those who are not part of the Department of Health and Social Services or the Yukon Hospital Corporation, to understand and comply with their obligations under Yukon’s Health Information Privacy and Management Act (HIPMA).

Guidance for public bodies on the use of video surveillance

The purpose of these guidelines is to assist public bodies identify when it is appropriate to use video surveillance and evaluate whether in using video surveillance involving the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information the requirements of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act can be met.
