A letter to the Honourable Rebecca Alty from the Canadian Council of Parliamentary Ombudsman (including the Yukon Ombudsman) regarding the creation of national and regional Indigenous and human rights ombuds, per the Call for Justice 1.7 of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

The Canadian Council of Parliamentary Ombudsman has formally endorsed a set of key principles designed to ensure the independence, effectiveness, and accountability of Ombudsman institutions across Canada. These principles, adopted during the Council's gathering in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, reaffirm the essential role of Ombudsman offices in upholding good governance, protecting individual rights, and reinforcing public trust in democratic institutions.

Four independent offices of the Legislative Assembly are petitioning the court to maintain their budgetary independence from government and protect the rights of Yukoners.
